My husbands uncles own a few vintage airplanes, so when we go to Michigan, we have to fly. My husband is also a pilot, so he becomes like a child when he goes to his uncle’s house. Like a kid in a candy store. We were in luck that day because they pulled out their Stearman’s! The last time we were there, the Stearman was being fixed. But this time we rode all day long.
The fun part was my Oldest Bit got his first ride in a Stearman. The pictures above are of him getting locked in by his dad, and his uncle in the back getting ready to fly my son for the first time. I was excited for him because riding in the Stearman is truly a fun and amazing experience. I love it because I get motion sickness when flying, but because the Stearman is open, the end blowing in my face helps fight the feeling. Truly a sense of freedom.
As you can see from above, the flight went well and he even got to fly in formation with another Stearman. So cool.
On a side note, the last day of the trip, we met my husbands uncle’s at a local airport where they flew in their vintage T6 airplanes. Oldest Bit went to look at one of them, and the next thing I knew he was in it and off! When he returned, he exclaimed that this trip was the best trip ever!
See you tomorrow with some more fun pictures of our trip to Michigan!
